Calorie Confusion

Despite all the warnings about obesity-related disease, waistlines in western nations continue to expand. Could this be due to our inability to estimate just how many calories we're consuming?

Researchers Pierre Chandon and Brian Wansink asked themselves "Why is America a land of low-calorie food claims yet high-calorie food intake?" To answer, they undertook experiments which investigated how perceptions of the healthiness of food served by fast-food restaurants affect how people estimate the calorie content of food items.
