Cholesterol and triglycerides are types of lipids – or fats – that perform a number of important roles in your bloodstream and around your body. Maintaining the right levels of each type of lipid is essential for good health; too much 'bad' LDL-cholesterol or triglycerides or too little 'good' HDL-cholesterol can contribute to clogged arteries and increase your risk of heart disease and stroke.
