As the saying goes, you are what you eat, but don't forget that what you drink can have a big impact on your heart health.

Alcohol: to tipple or teetotal?

Many people like to reassure themselves with the widely-publicised heart benefits of low-to-moderate alcohol consumption when they raise a glass with dinner. However, drinking too much alcohol is definitely not good for your health. It can raise your blood pressure and risk for stroke, and contribute to high triglycerides, dangerous abnormal heartbeat rhythms, obesity, depression, accidents and a number of different types of cancer.
