Fast Results For Cholesterol

Fasting regimes laid down by the Greek Orthodox Church could reduce the chances of suffering from heart disease, say researchers from the University of Crete.

They found that Greek Orthodox Christians who avoided specified foods three times a year had lower levels of cholesterol and low-density lipoproteins (known as LDL; cholesterol-binding proteins), in their blood after fasting, compared with other Christians who did not follow the fasting regimes. Unhealthy LDL cholesterol is sometimes referred to as ‘bad' cholesterol.
