Keep Watch For Orthorexia Nervosa

Too fussy about what you eat? Taking ‘healthy eating' a little too far? Orthorexia nervosa describes an obsession where eating only healthy foods is pushed to dangerous and unhealthy extremes.

Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are disorders in which the sufferer focuses on the quantity of food eaten. Although not yet classified as a true eating disorder, orthorexia nervosa describes a condition where an extreme fussiness about food can lead to a phobia about eating only ‘pure' foods such as vegetables and grains.
