Keep Watch For Steroid Abuse

The pressure felt by some young people to look good and be successful can be intense. Now researchers warn that children and adolescents may be opting for unhealthy quick-fixes.

The issue of steroid abuse among elite athletes and body builders has been widely publicised. Steroids, when used with in conjunction with exercise, can increase muscle mass, decrease body fat and improve athletic performance, potentially at the cost of permanent and damaging side-effects. Now studies suggest that elite athletes aren't the only people at risk for steroid abuse.
